It always surprises people to hear that Georgian Bay freezes over. And when you live here, the ice seems to appear rather suddenly! This year, it has only been this week that the ice is consistently covering the surface, and the snow helps to show that. However, it will still require a few more weeks of REALLY cold weather to make it safe to go on.I took this picture from the top of the Observation Tower at the Museum - it was extremely windy and cold up there - more than just the Bay was freezing!
